In my last video, I began a series called Horrible Hermeneutics. After introducing the series, I addressed the Law or Principle of First Mention. In this video, I want to strengthen my argument by responding to some of the 60+ comments I have received as well as many other private messages. I won’t go over too many. I just want to drive the point home. Before we get started, let me restate the Principle of First Mention for those who may have missed the first video. The book, Principles of Biblical Hermeneutics, defines the Principle of First Mention as, the principle by which God indicates in the first mention of a subject, the truth with which that subject stands connected in the mind of God. It goes on to say, the first time a thing is mentioned in Scripture it carries with it a meaning that will be carried all through the Word of God.
